Background

NGOs are generally committed to and work with the people for their economic, social and cultural development in the respective working areas of the NGOs. They also tend to look for new prospects applicable to their particular area and sort out the old problems to bring more benefit for the community to ensure poverty alleviation and sustainable development. Objectives

The main objectives the NGO Alliance are as follows:

To accelerate the utilization of natural resources including minerals as available in the Dinajpur region for the holistic and sustainable development involving the community.
To create an opportunity for fruitful lobbying and advocacy with Government, other agencies, civil society and NGOs for fostering the development issues in the region and to ensure involvement of local NGOs in the development process of natural resources including minerals
To create employment opportunities for better livelihood of the people
Promote utilization of local coal for minimizing deforestation
To create awareness among the community about the existence of natural resources and the need for their optimal use
Work as an independent external monitor of major development initiatives in natural resource sector

Areas of Activity

Capacity building of the people to ensure community participation
Formal and informal environmental education
Advocacy for proper utilization of the local natural resources including mineral resources
United effort to ensure local development
Work together to develop well informed local mass
All over Dinajpur district particularly natural resource rich and mineral extraction potential areas
